India is now shopping online like never before, and Flipkart is the hot destination of every internet shopaholic. The mastermind behind the idea, one of the first people to establish an e-commerce website in India is Sachin Bansal, an IIT graduate and a businessman who created something of a history in the great Indian internet shopping revolution.
Flipkart was founded in 2007 by Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal, both alumni of the IIT Delhi. They worked for amazon.com and left to create their new company incorporated in October 2007 as Flipkart Online Services Pvt. Ltd. The first product they sold was the book Leaving Microsoft To Change The World to a customer from Hyderabad. Flipkart now employs more than 33,000 people.After the failure of its 2014 Big Billion Sale, Flipkart carried out a second Big Billion Sale.where it is reported that they saw a business turnover of $300 million in gross merchandise volume.

  • Flipkart.com was awarded Young Turk of the Year at CNBC TV 18's 'India Business Leader Awards 2012' (IBLA).
  • Flipkart.com- got Nominated for IndiaMART Leaders of Tomorrow Awards 2011.

Ola was founded as an online cab aggregator in Mumbai , but is now based in Banglore . As of September 2015, Ola was valued at $5 billion. History: It was founded on 3rd December 2010 by Bhavish Agarwal (currently CEO) and Ankit Bhati. As of 2014, the company had expanded to a network of more than 200,000 cars across 100 cities.
